good evening. have you caught it yet? giants fever is sweeping the bay area as the team gets ready for its big playoff game tomorrow in san francisco against st. louis. the big question tonight, is it too late to get tickets? nbc bay area's mondty francis hs the answer. >> reporter: no, it is not too late but you cannot buy the tickets at the giants box office. you have to go online.
11:01 pm
the tickets will not be cheap. fans who came to the giants' box office to buy tickets for tomorrow's playoff game at at&t park were disappointed to see the windows were closed. >> i think the cheapest seats are about 1.30 each. >> reporter: online, stub hub is selling them at $120 each. for actual seats, you'll to have pay anywhere from $140 to $1,000. >> tomorrow is a big day. we got tickets for the 49ers game in the morning and we're hoping, we did not get the tickets yet, for the baseball game. we're pretty sure we're getting them tonight. >> reporter: for those hoping to see the giants play in person, a stub hub spokeswoman says there are still 4,000 tickets for tomorrow's game available on the site. and 7,000 for monday's game. the giants division series
11:02 pm
victory is no doubt going to translate into big business for bars and restaurants near ballpark. the manager of pete's tavern says for his business, it means tens of thousands of dollars in additional revenue. >> on a regular game day, we'll start getting packed two hours before the game. we're expecting tomorrow will be, start getting crowded around 10:30 in the morning and last through the evening. really looking for the to it. >> reporter: the manager said as soon as he knew the giants were playing a home game, ordered eight time the am of beer as for a usual sunday. >> as soon as the cardinals pulled it out, we were on the phone immediately. >> reporter: all the excitement about the players also means big business for stores selling giants gear. a manager at the giants' dugout store at the ballpark told me they just received a shipment in today and merchandise is already flying off the shelves. stub hub says you can buy tickets for contingent games,

even tickets to the world series if the giants make it that far. live in san francisco. monty francis, nbc bay area news. thank you. inside at&t park, the giants were back on the field today preparing for tomorrow's game. both teams needed to muster a pretty amazing comeback in the division series and here's the giants manager bruce bochy this afternoon. >> both clubs at some point had their backs up to the wall. we had to win three straight. and they're down a couple runs in the ninth. they found a way to get it done. so i think it says a lot about the two clubs. the character of the clubs and how far they fight. it should be a really hard fought series here. >> there was a scary moment this afternoon during the giants' workout. the first base coach roberto kelly suffered a concussion after he was hit in the back of the head by a line drive off the bat of buster posey. he was helped off the feel and taken to the hospital as a precaution. the team says he was resting at
11:04 pm
home and will meet with doctors again tomorrow. we'll have more from the giants' workout today coming up in a little while in sports. we have new information on a party boat rescue on the san francisco bay. the coast guard now says the party boat neptune hit a rock near alcatraz before it started taking on water last night. the captain radioed for help when he had trouble navigating the vessel back to pier 39. all 22 people on board for a bachelor party were rescued with no major problems and now it is under investigation by the coast guard. after a ten-hour stand-off, the hospital sister police report they've recovered a body believed to be placing woman from that area. they found the body inside the home of 30-year-old david jose. he is now being held on murder charges. police believe the body is is that of 25-year-old heather carol. she's been missing since wednesday after dropping her her 5-year-old child at school. police questioned him about carroll address disappearance.
11:05 pm
when they arrived at his house, they were told he was armed and ended up in the stand-off for hours. he surgeoned early this morning and police say he told them that carroll died after they got into an argument. there are two propositions on a california ballot that will raise taxes. one directly helps schools and the other has broader goals. and there's plenty of controversy with both of them. today the head of california schools weighed in on both of them. kimberly terry has a look at both propositions and what would happen if both passed. kimberly? >> reporter: it seems one thing most people can agree on is that public funding or public education desperately needs funding. how to get it? that's where the controversy comes in. let's take a closer look at what each measure is. prop 30 is a 7-year plan. it would raise income tax for californians making $250,000 or more a year.
11:06 pm
by 3%. it would also raise the sales tax by a quarter percent. the money would be used to fund k-12 and higher education. public safety programs and the remainor hoping to balance the state budget. prop 38 backed by civil rights attorney molly must knower will last 12 years and increase personal income taxes on a sliding scale. the money would be almost exclusively used for k-12 education. >> if you peel back the rhetoric. if you strip away the arguments, they're not that much different. the only difference is that the initiative lasts for a shorter period of time and it does not raise the income taxes of everyone. whereas munger's will last for a longer period of time and will raise taxes on almost everyone in california. as the election nears, the supporters have been clashing. each side claiming their way is better and in the process potentially confusing voters. >> it can be confusing.
11:07 pm
i urge voters to look at both. i am the superintendent of schools and i believe they're both going to be very valuable in restoring billions of dollars our schools need. if they both pass, you're not double taxed. the one with the most votes that goes into effect. >> we caught one the state superintendent for public instruction at the grand opening for the delta science center in oakley. he said he is voting yes on both propositions and warrants without the passage of either one of them. school will face billions more in cuts and could force the school year to be shortened as much as four weeks. prop 30 is doing slightly better than prop 38 when it comes to the polls. but as political analysts warn, a lot can change between now and election day. live in san jose. kimberly teri. thank you. a new law design to boost voter registration in the state appears to be working.
11:08 pm
the law allows californians to register to vote online. officials say it attracted more than four hundred,000 users in its first three weeks but that may not be good news for republicans. an early sampling of more than 50,000 online reg strags found nearly a third of them were under 26 and more likely to register as democrats than republicans. it found about a third of those who registered online were not affiliated with either major party. if you're living in san jose, you'll to have dial differently adding a few extra numbers when making a call. it is part of the plan to supply new phone numbers. so one week from today, callers will need to dial 1, plus the area code, then the number. even if they're calling from a 408 number. on november 20th, a new 669 area code will be introduced. customers who request new service add an additional line or change their service may be assigned that new area code.
11:09 pm
coming up next, it is not quite there yet. the space shuttle "endeavour" continues to head to the california science center. but it is running hours behind schedule. we'll show you what's going wrong. and a petco company is asking to you throw away dog treats. we'll show you which of their products may be contaminated. and we're watching more clouds spill back into the bay area. we'll wake up to some clouds and misty skies in a few spots tomorrow. as you watch it increasingly stormy pattern in the pacific. we'll let you know that storm right there will have any impact on our weekend weather.
